SUNDAY 17 JUNE 2012, 6pm – LATE

An evening of the unexpected, unpredictable and unforgettable.

Hatch, the East Midlands’ leading performance platform, is looking for the most exciting artists and performance makers from around the country to share new works-in-progress with a friendly audience.

This event is for new, unfinished performance work at a stage where its continuing development would particularly benefit from exposure to an audience. Work in any genre or performance discipline is welcome, especially work which is hard to define, or which falls between several categories.

Applications are open to everybody, and each proposal will be considered on its own merits – If you have an idea, we definitely want to hear from you. However, we particularly welcome applications which are:

  • From d/Deaf or disabled artists.
  • From artists based outside the East Midlands.
  • For short performances or extracts of longer work (10-15 minutes).
  • For longer durational performances running all evening, or for work which could later develop into a durational format.

There is a fee of £100 available for each selected performance to help cover expenses.
The closing date for applications is noon on Friday 18 May.

For an application form and more information, please email

Hatch: Scratch is a commission by Embrace Arts. Tickets are free and can be booked online by clicking here.

If you think you might be interested in applying, we look forward to hearing from you. And if you know anyone else who might be interested, please share this call for submissions as freely as possible. Thank you very much.

I was part of this on Wednesday! If you saw a crazy woman talking to herself walking around the inspirational & innovative artspace at Embrace Arts, Leics Uni, that was me! I confess that I was talking to headfones in my ears… But, there were two lovely people from Hatch there, so that’s okay.Wishing them a super evening on Sunday. The performance will be enlightening.
