Live Artists, Theatre Makers, Time Travellers, Dancers, Alternate Historians, Writers, Musicians, Chrononauts, Storytellers and Temporal Scientists:
We Need You.

Hatch is now seeking performers and performances for Hatch: It’s About Time.

On October 10 2010 we are for the first time moving a full blown Hatch event out of Nottingham. In various venues around Leicester, in association with Embrace Arts at the RA Centre. A month later, on November 10, the same artists will be invited back into Nottingham to re-present a further matured version of their work at Nottingham Castle as part of Sideshow, the official fringe to the British Art Show 7.

We need performers from any discipline and background and at any stage of their career. Ten artists and groups will be chosen to present new performance work in response to the title of the project, the perception of time as both a physical constant and a social construct and the histories of the two performance locations. We want to know how you would investigate history, project yourself across the future or illustrate the architecture of time. But we are also interested in finding the ideas whose time has come, whose moment is now.

Your submission does not have to be a fully polished performance which has already been shown elsewhere – in many ways, new and half-formed ideas are preferred. As well as adapting to fit into two very different and specific performance sites, we are interested in seeing how the month-long pause between events also shapes your work.

If you are interested in showing work in response to It’s About Time at Hatch please mail us for an application form. We will select ten artists or groups from the incoming submissions to showcase their work alongside three invited headline acts and two student groups currently mentored through Hatch and Nottingham based performance company Zoo Indigo.

It is pivotal that artists who are considered in the selection are able to commit to both event dates, 10th October and 10th November 2010.

The deadline for submissions is Sunday 19 September.

A decision on part of our funding is pending – a fee of £500 will be paid for each selected application dependent on this outcome. On the application form, you will be able to indicate whether you still wish to be considered for the project should this fee be unavailable.
