More information about Hatch: Abroad and useful tips for how to make the most of it:

1. Note the date AND the time!
This is all happening on the evening of Tuesday 20 October 2009. Everything starts with a special performance at Nottingham Arts Theatre at 7.30pm prompt. If you can’t make it by bang on half past, there will be lots to see and do along the whole stretch of Broad Street, but unfortunately no latecomers will be admitted to the theatre between 7.30pm and 8.30pm because…

2. Special Guests!
We are delighted to launch Hatch: Abroad with a showing of The Pilots by performance-y inspirations Reckless Sleepers. One of the most interesting experimental companies on the continent, this is a rare chance to see them in the heart of Nottingham city centre and represents a coup for the region and for Hatch. ‘Really stimulating in-flight entertainment’ – The Herald ****

3. So big it can’t be contained!
Hatch has outgrown its humble roots and now spills out across a whole street. The more you explore along Broad Street, the more you’ll find, from Nottingham Arts Theatre to the Lord Roberts to Lee Rosy’s to Shaw’s to Edin’s to Broadway to Muse to Revolution and back again. Join us back at the Arts Theatre at 10:30pm for the Grand Finale (and so we can tell you where to go for the afterparty).

4. It’s all totally free (sort of)!
In the spirit of Hatch, none of the venues will charge, and all the performances are free to watch. However, as with some of the other events in the fantastic nottdance09 festival, we are asking that you pay what you can (we think it’s great value for money at any price, but then we would say that). This is totally voluntary, but we thought it was something worth knowing in advance.

5. We need your help!
To get the most out of some of the performances, we need some help in advance from you (the most special guests of all):
Firstly, if you’d like to attend one of the performances of Dark Room, a brand new 15 minute piece by Zoo Indigo, you’ll need to book in advance: send an email to before Thursday 15 October and include the following:
a) an image of a time you were on holiday or abroad
b) a note or story related to the image
c) the name of your favourite cocktail/drink
d) your preferred timeslot – either 8:15pm, 9pm or 9:45pm

Secondly, Kathryn Cooper and her Bureau de Change need your cardboard. If you have any empty boxes you can flatten down and drop off for us, please let us know.

Thirdly, we really want to see you there, so please let us know to expect you!
If you’re a facebook user, join Hatch: Abroad here: (and if you fancy inviting your some of your friends too, you’re very welcome to do so). You can also email us at or tweet at us on

Finally, we are delighted to announce that Hatch: Abroad is part of the nottdance09 festival, supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, Dance4, New College Nottingham, Nottingham Arts Theatre, Broadway, and all of the host venues.

We look forward to seeing you at Hatch: Abroad!
